The Voice of Babaji: A Trilogy On Kriya Yoga
Babaji’s Masterkey to All Ills,
CHAPTER X
The All-Pervading One
To achieve success in life one must have a definite purpose or aim in view and he/she must strive ceaselessly to watch God and reach that goal. However, to fulfill that mission in life, one must know who one is. To realize oneself, one has to know the All pervading one. The best and simplest way to realize Him is by meditation and concentration alone. The way, in which one should meditate and concentrate on him, in a perfect manner, is learned only from one’s guru. Babaji has a unique way of reaching and guiding his sadhakas and if they sincerely and faithfully followed his teachings and ideals – handed down by Sri Lahiri Mahasaya, Sri Yukteswarji and Yoganandaji and (now) directly given by the Yogoda Sat Sangah to desiring and deserving aspirants, they are bound to achieve success in their lives and become notable examples for others to follow.
The writer, vividly recalls a very painful moment of his life, which he experienced a short while ago. In sheer desperation, he turned for consolation to a mystic friend of his, who is now his “other half”, and a member of the Yogoda Sat Sangah. This friend, suffice is to say, R., admonishing him lovingly and in a cryptic sharp fashion said, “V.I.N., pray meditate and concentrate.” This was, now I consider, a most fortunate moment for me, my four children (whom I deem the very gifts to Lord Bhuvanesha) and their mother. It set me thinking furiously as to who that Being was to whom I was to appeal and from that appeal of mine, what was to happen. Then came our group meditations, casual talks and occasional instructions, and then finally Babaji himself came, who was pleased to accept me as an instrument for him to operate, in such manner as he cared to. Jai Babaji Jai! What more can I do than say and shout from the house tops “Sri Babaji, Jai Babaji, Jai Jai Babaji! Jai ]аi Jai!”
Just as I have met and been chosen by the greatest Satguru Deva, so can you (good and kind reader), but it means Absolute Surrender, a patience that would tire patience and considerable experience, to me “this friend of Humanity and loving Master, though seeming hard taskmaster.” Just prior to meeting him, I was mentally rehearsing all that I should like to ask of him, if I was so privileged. I wanted to know of him, why it was essential that I pray and what relationship I had with the Being to whom the prayer was to be directed? Did it not amount to subjugation to some unknown, and would it not be mental hallucination? As I was musing in my room, there was a spark in the center of my forehead and there stood before me the angel, nay the God of Gods, Babaji himself, a lean, slim and verily wiry, but moderately “Beauty of Beauties” in his teens, with a smile that would make a Caliph Haroun Al Raschid squirm with envy. It was as if he was a very big and powerful magnet before whom I stood, dismayed, non-plussed, flabbergasted, bewitched and dumbfounded. I could not speak, but could only experience a thrill passing through my frame as the Satguru Deva addressing me as, “My child, I have been searching for you for years and only now you have become susceptible.”
With each day that passed, it was revealed that this momentous meeting was destined to draw me more and more to him (Babaji). Friends, believe me, this was not idle imagination. To the sincere devoted heart,
Babaji is a Real Friend. If only we, the world over, can get that blessing, we can surely feel his presence around us. We will come to know that Babaji is able to influence and help us (one and all) despite physical distance. That aside, how can I thank my friend R., for leading me to him? How better can I show my gratitude to him who has now become my ”other half”, thanks to Babaji’s grace, than to pen these lines, that would go down to posterity, as something momentous and a veritable heirloom? Jai Baban Jai!
Day in and day out Babaji goes on serving humanity by tapping some, speaking to a few and silently lifting many. His one potent medicine for all ailments is compounded out of the Fountain of Immortal Bliss, which pervades the entire universe. Babaji has drunk deep of that Nectar and he visualizes in the manifested universe the radiation of that cosmic Light of Lights. Glory of Glories! Small wonder then, that all those who come in contact with him are blessed and directed in the true path, which leads one to discover that he is in essence, That Supreme!
Amid the whirl of life, men oft fail to remember,
But never does He, the Great Heart, forget
In several each atom, that Undying Ember,
Fully permeating all, He cometh – The Great Unmanifest
From the hearts of limitless Deepa,
From far beyond human ken,
As entrancing celestial Notes, He sings,
The music of Life to men
As the mystic writings up the wall,
He awakens mankind to the Immortal call.
His are the footprints on the sands of time,
That guide the struggling bond
Of mankind in every race, creed & clime,
Right up to the distant Unknown Land.
Upon the Altar of Lofty Ideals,
He is ready & joyous, offering now, Life’s mansion Palatial,
With the rare pillars of Truth & Love,
Gathering all earth into an affectionate kinship.
He ends forever the rule of might & kingship.
Why speak of heaven as some region superior?
By Babaji’s grace, Heaven prevails right now & here.
For becoming firm in Consciousness Supreme,
In all bosoms Immortal Bliss lights gleam.
Lord Krishna says, “To regard me as the one Present in all beings, to look upon all beings as Myself in thought, word and deed is, I think, the best of all methods of worship. O dear one, whosoever devotes himself to My worship and service without expectation of reward, will never go wrong or lose the benefit of any portion of his service. Not even a little of the labor in my righteous course, even a beginning of it, would be lost. There is not the least chance of fear in the Bhagavata path. Even what is otherwise fruitless, becomes a dharma when it is unselfishly offered to me. So, it has been ordained by Me because it is unaffected by gunas, it is free from desire. It is a law of righteousness that the discharge of duty without expectation of reward must lead to good.” For those who listen an follow, this is an invitation for further communion. The call is incessant. One can hear it when he wills.
Prostrations and adorations to the Lotus Feet of Babaji. Babaji, whose all merciful look stirs in the indwelling spirit waves of compassion and love, just as the full moon swells the ocean in joy. Whose bening grace falls equally on all, just as the resplended sun shines equally on all objects. Whose spiritual luster illumines even the hearts of the ego-ridden folk to their depth, unveiling the dark phantom of ignorance, which envelops them, just as a rising moon dispels the gloom and darkness of the night. Who is ever full of divine love and true spirit of atma bhava, ever enjoying the brahmic bliss. Whose sweet words are pouring out incessantly from the ever-abiding Self, just as the melodious Ganga flows from the eternal snow. Whose bewitching smile wipes out the afflictions of the body, mind and soul. Whose eyes penetrate every heart to the core, transforming every sullied object into one of supreme purity and love divine, inspiring every heart to radiate eternal waves of blissful joy and divine devotion. Who is the sublime, lofty Everest among the Himalayan peaks, whom the sacred and chaste Gouri reveres. To His Lotus Feet I pray, most revered Babaji the very embodiment of sacchidananda.
